Hi! Yan Wu here, I’m a fabric print designer and illustrator based in NYC, professional pattern designer and all-around appreciator of the visual arts.

I have 20 years of experience within the fashion / garment industry, with over 10 years in preparing vintage and studio artwork and creating original designs for fabric production in various printing techniques.

Prior to my turn in design, I handled fabric sourcing for clients in the women’s RTW and sportswear categories. This experience lent to my understanding on the technicalities of wovens and knits, their various finishes, and how they affect and relate to creating appropriate artwork for commercial printing production.

Drawing inspiration, from fashion to real life and various trends, I like to create prints in a wide range of styles with an emphasis on hand drawn techniques.

My love for all things creative has resulted in art degrees in traditional painting in fine arts and draping for theatre costuming, digital visualization in graphic and communication design, and 3d spatial concept and design in animation and interactive media.

From paint and canvas, pencil and paper, to stylus and tablet, I enjoy drawing in both traditional and digital media.
